A Fast and Fantastic Front Door Facelift
Want to dramatically improve your home's curb appeal in one day?
BEFORE : BRUTAL
This small semi-detatched house had a drafty old wood and glass door and dingy broken storm door.
The door hardware was worn and the mail slot was stuck open allowing cold air to blow in, and heat to escape.
Louise pointed out that this type of door with glass panels so close to the lock is also not very secure.
We opted to ditch the storm door altogether and install a new insulated front door in a great colour...
Louise's Tip! Paint a new door BEFORE it is installed.
This allows the top and bottom of the door and all sides to be painted evenly.
If any paint is removed in the installation process it can easily be touched up.
We opted to paint our door red on both sides.
Invest in quality exterior paint for best adhesion, durability and colour.
A good paint will also minimize the number of coats needed.
We used a foam roller for even paint coverage that was not thick.
Our new door was installed and outfitted with a fresh and simple brushed nickel lever handle.
Now this warm and welcoming entry is ready for brand new house numbers!
THE AFTER? DYNAMIC!
A door in a bold 'statement colour' adds major curb appeal at a relatively minor cost.
This stylish new door is more secure, will reduce energy costs and transformed this average facade into an entranceway with impact.
